Following his start in the NBA in 2020 and two seasons spent with the Denver Nuggets, Markus Howard has made the decision to leave the United States temporarily to play for Baskonia, a professional basketball club in La Liga. He explained that his choice was driven by the need to provide financially for his family.
Having worked under two-way contracts for the last two years, Howard shared openly: \"I’ve participated in the NBA for two years, and truthfully, I could still obtain two-way deals with plenty of teams, giving me the chance to play more often. Yet, ultimately, I don’t want to pursue more experience without a clear benefit from it.\"

"I’m not looking to repeat this situation. I have responsibilities to my family beyond just myself. My goal is to earn a decent income and feel that I am fairly compensated for my contributions.\" He went on to point out that his average playtime has only amounted to 5.6 minutes over the last two years, emphasizing how this experience has helped him appreciate the chances presented to him.
